Revoltella Museum

The museum that best represents the past and present of Trieste is the Revoltella Museum. The home to Baron Pasquale Revoltella, who left the palace with all its furniture and precious collections to his city when he died in 1869. Together with the spaces in the adjacent Palazzo Brunner, incorporated into the Revoltella thanks to a project by the architect Carlo Scarpa, today the Revoltella Museum houses one of the most important modern and contemporary art collections in Italy.

Museum of Oriental Art

Located in Palazzetto Leo, one of the most elegant buildings in the historic center of Trieste. The rooms of this 18th-century palace display collections of objects, sculptures, porcelain, textiles, arms, and clothing that illustrate the relationships Trieste had with the Orient, via sea over centuries.

Museum of Natural History

It conserves important collections that attest to natural environments that no longer exist. The most famous find is Antonio, the skeleton of the largest dinosaur ever found in Italy, 4 meters long and 1.3 meters tall.

Sea Museum

The Museo del Mare in Trieste represents the seafaring vocation of the city. It conserves extensive documentation on naval technology and fishing, as well as large models of sailing ships and steamships.

Risiera San Sabba

A large rice mill built in 1898, the Risiera di San Sabba became a prison camp during the German occupation of Trieste in 1943 and was immediately transformed into a death camp: Italian soldiers, partisans, political prisoners and Jews. It is a national monument.
