Historic Areas: history within reach in Trieste
A journey through history, when Trieste was the capital of Central Europe. Aristocratic, noble, Austrian and Balkan, home to the majority of shipping and insurance companies in the world; free port and cradle of literary art: this was Trieste in the early 1900s and its eclectic and sophisticated soul lives on in the historic areas of the DoubleTree by Hilton Trieste.
The grandiose entrance leads to the lobby, located opposite the iconic and impressive marble fountain depicting Mercury with three lions drinking, playing with shapes, lights and contrasts that enhance and emphasize the prestigious esthetic.
The first floor can be reached by the panoramic elevators or the historic staircase and houses the original library, meeting rooms, bar and restaurant area, which are a meeting point not only for hotel guests but tourists and residents as well.
The library, perfectly preserved, is one of the most charming rooms in the entire building as is the luxurious Berlam Coffee Tea & Cocktail lounge, once the board room of RAS directors, which is still reached by the splendid staircase and thanks to the magnificent original elevator you can enter the clock room (*).
The first floor also houses 5 meeting rooms created where there were once offices for bank employees and are now spaces for exclusive business meetings.
Everything at DoubleTree by Hilton Trieste evokes the magnificent years of economic and cultural fervor in Trieste at that time. That is why we highly recommend all our guests discover the building in order to experience the emotions of full immersion into Trieste’s history.
(*) The clock room and the Presidential room are temporarily inaccessible
