The Race

The Barcolana 55, the biggest regatta in the world, will take place in Trieste from the 1st week of October 2023!

The History

Only 51 boats participated in the first edition in 1969, while today Barcolana is the regatta with the largest number of participants in the world with over 2,000 sailboats!

Each year around 400,000 people among crews, staff, sponsors, fans and onlookers come to Trieste to experience the unique spirit and atmosphere of the Barcolana.

The record was made in 2018, with 2689 boats and since then the Barcolana has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as ‘The Largest Sailing Race’.

Who knows if the record will be broken this year!

Did you know that…

DoubleTree by Hilton Trieste has been the sponsor of Idrusa, one of the biggest boats of Barcolana, in the 2020 and 2022 races!

In 2022 Idrusa gained the 10th place in Barcolana 54.
