The Barcolana, the biggest regatta in the world. To think that only 51 boats participated in the first edition in 1969 while today it is the regatta with the largest number of participants in the world with over 2,000 sailboats! Each year around 400,000 people among crews, staff, sponsors, fans and onlookers come to Trieste to experience the unique spirit and atmosphere of the Barcolana.
The record was made in 2018, with 2689 boats and since then the Barcolana has entered the Guinness Book of World Records as ‘The Largest Sailing Race’.
Trieste is ready to host the 57th edition of the Barcolana, the iconic sailing regatta that transforms the Gulf of Trieste into a breathtaking spectacle, where hundreds of boats and sea enthusiasts gather to celebrate sailing, passion, and the beauty of our city.
